Margaret HowieARMOURMargaret Howie Armour died peacefully at home on July 18, 2026, in Montreal, Canada. Born in 1937 and raised in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, her adventurous spirit took her across the Atlantic to St. John's, Newfoundland, and the physiotherapy department of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. Margaret said she left Scotland so she wouldn't marry a Presbyterian minister, something she ended up doing anyways 3,500 kms from home. Together they served the congregations of St. David's in St. John's and the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul in Montreal. Margaret was an essential part of those ministries, contributing her talents fully and freely without ever losing her sense of fun or her Scottish accent.

Predeceased by her husband, the Reverend J.S.S. Armour, Margaret will be dearly missed by her children James (Margaret), David (Manon), Douglas (Lycia), and Jenny; as well as her beloved grandchildren William, Catherine, Justin, Abigail, and Christopher.

A private service and interment will be held at a later date at the Belvedere Cemetery in Senneville, Quebec.

Im so sorry to read of your mum’s passing 😢 My grandma was a very good friend of your Gran & Papa Jenny & Eddie McGeachie, your mum’s parents. Your mum and she exchanged letters for many years and when your mum visited Scotland she popped in to visit. Her name was Elizabeth Johnstone, she passed away in 2022 aged 100. I hope you find the strength of family love will help you through the dark and difficult times 💔
